I’ve been tracking Jeni’s Ice Cream for about two years now – ever since a treats-loving boss of mine drove from Nashville to Minneapolis with a loaded cooler of ice cream so we could have a hotel room social with her favorite flavors during a company retreat (Queen City Cayenne and Pistachio-Honey).
When they opened in Chicago last year, a friend of mine hired the Jeni’s truck to provide late night scoops for their wedding guests. While other friends and family lined the steps of an art museum creating a canopy of sparklers for the newlyweds to walk through, I spied ice cream and snuck off to be first in line (Brambleberry Crisp and Salty Caramel).
And now Jeni’s is in Los Feliz so I no longer have to travel long distances or use my ice cream truck radar. Perfect (not massive) scoop sizes, unlimited/encouraged tastes, and a sundae list that is customizable. Customization chosen: the St. Louis Flyer with pistachio-honey and milk chocolate Bombay ice creams, a banana and roasted almonds. With a waffle cone fortune cookie on top!
